Welcome to the newest ‘advanced’ Brickineers STEM Robotics Camp!
Cars, Gears and Wheels: Remote Control with Scratch using Lego Boost Hubs and SBricks!
(and Rubber Bands and Ropes)
Brickineers camps are motivating and engaging and have become the highlight of many youngsters!
If you have the Boost kit at home, or are considering it, then this is the class for your children! Children from grades 3 to 6 are welcome as we all build or use the same robots, but with different programming environments. Children in Grades 1 and 2 are also welcome if accompanied by an older sibling.
This special camp will pit Lego Boost versus Vengit SBrick Bluetooth remote control hubs against each other in all sorts of builds including race cars and tank-like overlanders. We will also compare rubber band and rope pwoer. We will build different chassis and attach gears, motors, hubs and tires and race over obstacles to see who wins. We will use the Scratch programming environment to control the robots. True programming for fun vehicles and engineering physics.
We will have a lot of fun driving the vehicles, and maybe even robots, on special mats to practice our design skills, programming skills, and to compete.
This is an incredible avant garde camp which has no parallel.
Brickineers classes and camps are based on the principles of experiential learning, and it is important that children have similar arithmetic knowledge and social skills, so that they can share and build from common foundation at a pace that all can enjoy. Learners will become familiar with mechanical terminology, basic programming and troubleshooting.
Participants will learn to read the robot’s sensors and control motors using the Scratch visual programming language. Each learner will have use of their own computer and building station where they can play, learn and work on the robotic and programming projects by themselves.
