Description

Calgary Zoobots 3.0 Summer Camp (AM)

Exciting Lego Robotic Animals – or Zoobots – for kids ages 5 to 11, week of July 3 -7! (Note please email if you wish to start on July 4 instead!)

This is the third year for this in-demand camp! Zoobots hold interest for all ages and genders; we will work with Lego Motors & Sensors, Lego Bricks, Lego Technics, Mega Bloks and Duplo! Thousands of bricks, beams & accessories will be used to build not only robots, but zoo environments! That also means paint brushes for backgrounds – so everyone gets to be artists! A zoo train will bring supplies and animals to the zoo. …and don’t forget we program as well, with Lego WeDo for younger children, and MIT Scratch Programming Environments for older children! Zoo animal robots, or Zoobots, are a first stage to learning animatronics and it is amazing to watch them move and react to the environment around them. Almost every engineering discipline is involved in this camp.

Brickineers Calgary Zoobots Summer Campers will build and program Zoobots, animal robots, using Lego bricks, gears, sensors and motors, and then use the Lego WeDo or MIT’s Scratch drop down visual programming environments to make them move, react and make sounds. Campers will learn and apply programming concepts and improve all the various skills necessary for building and modifying robots. Creativity in building Zoobot environments will be exercised! Each camper will build an environment for their chosen Zoobot just like real zoo exhibits. The individual environments will come together to create a master zoo plan for all campers and guests to enjoy on the last day of the camp!
