Summer Camp Robot Engineer 1

Weekdays 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, 1 week beginning August 21 and ending August 25. Suggested Grades 4 and up. Grade 3 accepted with advanced arithmetic knowledge.

All camp sessions are facilitated by a Canadian Trained Experienced Electronics Engineer.

Early drop-off and late pickup times are 8:30AM and 4:45 PM. Other times can be negotiated.

Bridgeland Riverside Community Association (BRCA) Hall, 917 Centre Ave. N.E..

Just north of Memorial and East of Edmonton Trail, directly North from the Bridgeland C Train Station.

Campers will build the VEX IQ Superkit Robot and use the RobotC programming language for control.
RobotC for VEX is free, allowing students to work on their programs at home!

Robot Engineer Summer Camp

August 21 – 25

Let Brickineers camps prepare your family for the age of robotics; and enjoy it!

   This full day camp is intended for children with a minimum of Grade 4 arithmetic knowledge. Children who finished Grade 3 but have advanced arithmetic knowledge are also welcome. We will strengthen the knowledge and use of simple fractions and right angle triangle arithmetic.

Campers will improve their programming and design skills in a fun and interesting way using the RobotC programming language, and the VEX® IQ Superkit.

Clawbot

Robotic modifications and builds published by VEX, educational organizations and clubs, or designed “in-house” by our learners  will be used.

The VEX IQ™ Superkit has over 850 pieces including a powerful ‘brain’, 12 configurable inputs and outputs, 4 motors, colour sensor, distance sensor, gyroscope sensor, 2 touch sensors and 2 bumper sensors. Robots can be built quickly leaving time for programming, testing and competitive fun.

Each pair of learners will have use of one VEX IQ Superkit robot, and each learner will use his or her own computer when programming. Campers will demonstrate their robots in a specially designed competition table.

Students will learn to build and program VEX IQ’s  intelligent brick using interactive smart motors, remote control, ultrasonic and color sensors, touch LEDs and bumpers. RobotC, easy to learn intuitive software with graphics and fill in the blanks instructions, will bring the robot “to life”.

After working with the introductory level of Robot C, learners can effortlessly ease into more detailed C language programming at a future date. VEX has also released a CAD program for robotic design,  making it a complete integrated system for designing, programming and assembling robots. We will look at the CAD program briefly in the camp.

Campers with Mindstorms at home will benefit from learning RobotC programming techniques. RobotC is available for Mindstorms.
